While recently working on the upcoming Breaking Bad - Season 4 [Bootleg], I began once again searching for the nine missing tracks from the previous seasons' bootlegs--three from season 1, four from season 2, and two from season 3. The former contains all of the music mentioned in the books (93 tracks, see Tracks List - Deluxe), including that which is not specifically defined [i.e. "Hawaiian music," "country music"], while the latter includes only that music which is more specifically defined (51 tracks, see Tracks List - Lite) [i.e. "Lush Life" (no artist defined), "Sing, Sing, Sing" (Benny Goodman)]. Maintenance Issue: Posting Cover Images

Previously, when I posted an image such as a CD cover, you could single-click it and it would open in another window at its correct size of 600 x 600 px. Beginning with "Breaking Bad - Season 3," however, this is no longer the case. Single-clicking does nothing. Even when you right-click and choose "Open in another window," the image opens in another window, but doesn't open to its full size. Strange.

The problem now appears to be resolved.

Breaking Bad Bootleg Update

The posts for all of the Dave Porter bootlegs for all three seasons of "Breaking Bad" have been updated. New links have also been added. These have all been split into two parts and they now include all of the newly added tracks. Please note additional changes below:

Season 1 - I have changed the track order after eliminating several of the video rips of the "car wash" tracks, etc. due to the recent addition of the "Cruisin" track. These tracks were redundant.

Season 2 - With the exception of the updated links, no additional changes have been made.

Season 3 - I have fixed track 32, "Windy," and I have eliminated all but three of the bonus tracks. This was an aesthetic choice on my part and I ask that you not request their reupload as they were only video rips of several of the television promos. Further, track 40 includes most of that material anyway.

Also, I made a mistake. I forgot about the three tracks from the season 3 finale, but rest assured, I have uploaded those as well. You will, however, need to manually adjust all of the track numbers of the bonus tracks to reflect the new changes as the three new tracks will be designated 35, 36, and 37.

In addition to the usual Megaupload links, I have also included a torrent link for the new Season 3 bootleg based upon the kind suggestion from cameo2009.

Announcement: Happy 18th Ennio Morricone Bootleg!

I was going to celebrate when I completed my 20th Ennio Morricone bootleg, but I don't know that I'll ever find, "Don't Kill God."

I would like to thank several people for their help with my efforts. Thank you, Morricone Lover (aka soundtracklover), and your contributors, for your original site and your many kindnesses to me. Thank you also, citizenben, for your bootleg of "Duello nel Texas (aka Gunfight at Red Sands)," it inspired me to do the same. I wish also to thank you, eda-88, for the enormous help you have given me. You have collaborated with me on the majority of these bootlegs, helping me with track identification and titling, as well as helping me locate several of the various video files from which I was able to subsequently rip the audio and create the bootlegs. Without Eda's help, three of these bootlegs would never have been made by me.

In music, the term bootleg generally refers to an unauthorized recording of a live or recorded event. These bootlegs were created from recorded events, videos.

As I began my research into Ennio Morricone's music, I soon discovered that much of his work, including a number of musical scores, had yet to be released. I found a few tracks here and there on the internet, but it quickly became apparent that the only way that I was ever going to hear any of this unreleased film music was to watch the films. I began searching the internet for these films and found a program that would allow me to rip the audio from the videos. I used torrents ("I Marziani Hanno 12 Mani," "I Motorizzati," "I Maniaci," etc), DVDs ("Giotto and the Pre-Renaissance"), and YouTube ("Windows") to make these bootlegs.

Please correct the date in iTunes, et al. "Guarda Come Dongolo" is best copy I've found. I have never heard "Pinni, Fucilo ed Ocheiali." I don't believe I've heard Track 7 and 8 before. Any titles? The Nicole variations are new, but they are not so varied as one might suppose. Track 9 and 10 are the same, though 10 is shorter. The same for 11 and 13, respectively. Also, a variation of "Donna da Morire." Cool cover. The last 4 tracks listed on the album cover, though they are not a part of this collection, are from different projects, not necessarily those composed by Morricone.

Like so many others before him, my Kazakh friend, Eldar (aka Eda aka eda-88), has had his website at My Opera banned. Why was Eda banned, you may ask? Because he shared his vast knowledge and love of movies and music with his many, many friends and visitors to his blog.

And someone reported him to My Opera. Why? For what reason?

Eda shared music. Heaven forbid! He shared his music at between 160 and 320 kbps--highly listenable, but inferior to the quality of a commercial CD. And although he would sometimes share a CD or two of lossless or CD quality, it was for music that was out-of-print. Where is the harm in that? It was unavailable otherwise!

And, Eda profitted not a single tenge (Kazakh currency)? Who are we to judge, within reason, another person's site content?

Anonymity gives one the courage to do things they would not normally do. Perhaps this person thought that they were doing the world a service by reporting Eda to My Opera. Perhaps they should look to their own house. What were they doing at his site? Downloading music? Perhaps they should worry about more pressing and urgent business--such as their own. Indeed, recycling and conservation of our resources is of more urgency. Does this person recycle? Aluminum? Newspaper? Plastics? Doubtful. If they do not, then they should not speak to anyone about their indignation and morals. They should scurry away and hide in the cupboards.

Who in anonymity is capable of such a thing? Anyone is the short answer. Anyone who thinks that they have a moral high ground on which to stand. Sadly, this describes us all, though we are quite wrong in this regard. We all have our demons and we all have our self-righteous ideals. But let us think before we act in such a way, lest the world become less for it.

My friend Eda will be rebuilding his site one day, in another venue, and I will bring my hammer. Another friend will bring a saw, someone will supply the lumber, another will supply...

Eda has many, many friends. How many friends does this little man have?

I searched and searched, but I couldn't find any currently available share version and so I began a bootleg. I began to work on the cover during the early stages of the project and, after capturing nearly a dozen stills from the film and researching the available original commercial cover artwork, I decided on the single still of John sitting high in the loft of the barn, watching in horror as the hunter, Harry Powell, the demented and murderous preacher, rides his horse in the distance singing, "Leaning On the Everlasting Arms."

UPDATE 10/03/08: All finished! I've updated the link. I hope that you enjoy it, but I doubt it. Too much talky-talky.

UPDATE 10/03/08: This bootleg will be complete by either tonight or tomorrow. This was not a pleasant project and the resulting bootleg is only for die-hard fans of Il Maestro. The score is very slow and dull and includes mostly church-like organ music with extremely unnerving Russian-Italian translation crosstalk dialogue. This is the first and last Russian translation torrent I will use.

Here is the "Main Titles" track from "Todo Modo" taken off of a Russian torrent .avi. As you can hear, the track has extraneous narration/trans-lation of the credits. Unfortunately the "End Titles" promise to be more of the same. Eda-88 has told me that this is inherent to Russian translations of films. Rather than relying on conventional subtitles, a narrator actually reads the credits sequences. Weird. Anyway, these bootlegs were never supposed to take the place of the actual soundtracks. They were more or less a sampling of the actual soundtracks until they were finally released or rereleased commercially. What can you do? Does anyone have a non-Russian .avi of this film that I can download? Keep checking back for the complete version of this OST.

It's worse than I thought. The Russian translator speaks throughout the whole film, you hear Italian and Russian cross-talk. Crazy. Haven't you guys ever heard of subtitles? Thanks, eda-88 for your help with this effort.

Originally rendered for the cover of a mix CD, I merely added line and text elements: two censor black-outs and text---"Proporzioni Epic," both normal and reversed (directly above the right square, which was my attempt to match Leonardo's reverse script), and the English translation from Italian, "Epic Proportions." These edits could easily have been accomplished using MS Word, Paint, or other such programs that offer basic photo and text editing capabilities.

This project began as my response to the lack of availability of "Star Trek" songs either commercially or otherwise, although I was able to find some songs from "The Way To Eden" via torrent. Soundtracks were available, certainly, but mere music was not what I craved. I wanted the songs, poetry, dance, and drama of "Star Trek."

I wanted to hear the rich nasal voice of Spock again, singing the aired-version of "Maiden's Wine aka A Serenade From the Laughing Spaceman" ("Plato's Stepchildren"), I wanted to split my sides and shoot milk out of my nose once more listening to Kirk screaming "No blah, blah, blah" to Jahn and the Onlies ("Miri"), I wanted to chant along with the children as they sang "The Friendly Angel Song" ("And the Children Shall Lead"), I wanted to shiver in fright at the "very bad poetry" of the three witches ("Catspaw"), I wanted to hear, as the blood roared in my fevered brain, the maniacal rant of "Redjac" ("Wolf In the Fold"), I wanted to listen in as Nurse Chapel gave Uhura a reading lesson after Uhura's mind was erased by an ancient Earth space probe ("The Changeling"), I wanted to play my air-guitar as I jammed with Spock, and Adam and the gang ("The Way To Eden"), and I wanted once more to hold my hand over my heart as I "plegleia'd" my allegiance to the "flaglea" with Cloud Willam and Kirk ("The Omega Glory"). I know you do to, so come on in. The water's fine, but this collection contains some adult material such as "Nightingale Woman" ("Where No Man Has Gone Before"), it was, after all, "one of the most passionate love sonnets of the past couple of centuries..."
